Treatment Philosophy:
Dr. von Doepp does not subscribe to a particular treatment philosophy. He uses an eclectic approach. Treatment is tailored to diagnosis, needs, means, and cognitive-abilities of each individual patient, and may include pharmacotherapy, cognitive behavioral or insight-oriented dynamic psychotherapy. No patient is seen for medication management alone, except by special arrangement.
Treatment Process
(A) A four to six session evaluation period, at the end of which time treatment recommendations are provided and both patient and psychiatrist are free to terminate the relationship.
(B) A psychotherapy period, which may last for more than a year, depending on the severity of diagnosis.
(C) A termination phase of about three visits. Patient is free to terminate the psychiatrist-patient relationship at any time, but is asked to provide time for a proper termination.
(D) Visit frequency is weekly but depends on the needs of the individual patient.
Confidentiality
Covered under HIPAA rules and regulations, a copy of which can be provided patient on first visit.
Telephone Consultations
Generally discouraged except in crisis situations or for unexpected medication issues. There is no charge for such telephone consultation, except by prior arrangement with patient.
Cancellation
A 24-hour notice, not counting weekends, is required for any cancellations or reschedule requests. At the option of psychiatrist, the usual fee may be imposed for any failed visits or those cancelled with less than 24 hours advance notice. Three failed or cancelled visits in succession will be interpreted by psychiatrist as a termination by patient.
Fees and Payments
The standard published fee schedule is $300 for an initial 90-minute evaluation and $200 for a subsequent 45 to 50 minute interview. In practice, fees are negotiated with each individual patient and will vary according to financial situation of patient and limitations imposed by the medical insurance of patient. Dr. von Doepp will provide a statement of amounts due to patient and his/her medial insurance company on a fairly regular basis, at least four times per year. Payment from patient is expected within 30 days of receipt of such statement, or receipt of insurance company’s reimbursement, whichever event occurs later. A retainer of $300 is required on first evaluation visit. Repeated non-payment by patient may result in termination or referral out. Dr. von Doepp accepts patients of all major health insurance plans, with the exception of Medical and Medicare. BACK TO THE TOP
